Family legend says that Lucia Antonutti, the director’s great-grandmother, tried to assassinate Mussolini before emigrating to Argentina in the early 1930s. An imaginative exercise, which aims to overcome time and distance, reconstructs the details of the day when this rural woman in charge of four children could have changed the fate of her family and the course of 20th-century history. Playing at exhausting the possible motivations that led Lucia to take up a shotgun, The search ends up revealing a different need: that of resolving the question of her own identity, marked in the case of the filmmaker by the continuous migratory movements of her ancestors and by the possibilities that history left in the dark.

A lenda familiar di que Lucía Antonutti, a bisavoa do director, intentou asasinar a Mussolini antes de emigrar a Arxentina a comezos dos anos 1930. Un exercicio de imaxinación, que procura superar o tempo e a distancia, reconstrúe os detalles do día no que esta muller rural, á cabeza de catro nenos, podería ter cambiado o destino da súa familia e o rumbo da historia do século XX. Xogando a esgotar as posibles motivacións que levaron a Lucía a coller unha escopeta, a procura acaba por revelar unha necesidade diferente: a de resolver a cuestión da súa propia identidade, marcada no caso da cineasta polos continuos movementos migratorios dos seus antepasados e polas posibilidades que a historia deixou na escuridade.
